In 1915
San Francisco hosted the Panama Pacific International Exposition. The Great Exposition was to commemorate the completion
of the Panama Canal, one of the world’s most incredible engineering and constructions projects of its day.
The Exposition
also allowed San Francisco to show the whole world that they had not only survived the 1906 earthquake and fire but had achieved
monumental reconstruction to the cities building and infrastructure.
The Panama Pacific International Exposition also
saw an overwhelming abundance of many different kinds of souvenirs among them watch fobs. A watch fob is an ornament that
is affixed to a pocket-watch chain. Can either hang from a point along the chain or from its end. They were very popular
and most gentlemen owned several. Please feel free to email me with comments or questions at bballas@panamapacific.com.
